What Color Should a Picture Frame Be?

Frame ColoringWhen it comes time to picking out a frame for your picture or photo, you may get stuck. You may be unsure what type of frame will work the best or what type of colors you should apply to the design. The good news is that there are many types of products on the market and most of them can offer a wide range of option for you. The key is understanding what you want the picture to convey to those seeing it and to choose something that works for your needs in terms of budget, design, and wood. When you work with the best picture frame company in Berlin, you will get the help you need throughout this process.

Key Decisions to Consider About Picture Frame Coloring

Frame ColoringTo help you to make the right decision about the picture frame and the coloring of it, keep the following tips in mind.

  • First consider the photo and artwork itself. If the photography used within the frame is strong and has more modern looks, you can choose a frame that has more bold and modern lines to it. On the other hand, those photos that are more subdued can be overshadowed by a frame that stands out too much.
  • Think about where you will display the piece. What types of colors and styles are present in that area? It is important to ensure your piece will work there, but don’t be afraid to allow those colors to stand out some as well. It can be a bright red frame, for example, in an otherwise dull room.
  • Don’t just guess. One of the best ways to choose a color is to ask for samples, take them home, and see how well they will work. You may be able to find samples available to you in a variety of wood types as well as in multiple color patterns. This will also allow you to determine if bold colors will work better or if something less stand out fits your needs more fully.

Frame ColoringDon’t be afraid to use color in the framing or the frame itself. However, you do not want the matting or the frame to take over the photo or dominate the image. Be sure they work well to create the same message. Doing this allows you to have the best possible completed work which will look fabulous on your wall.

How many photos do you have on your cell phone? Today, cell phones are with us everywhere they go. That is why so many people have files and files of photos on their phones but may not have many of these on the go shots on a camera. Just because they are on your phone doesn’t mean you can’t place them on your walls or in picture frames.

Take a Look at Your Phone

Take a few minutes to check out what’s on your phone right now. How many of those images bring back great memories or help you to remember the way your child looked at a certain point in his or her life? You may have group shots with friends. You may even have multiple older photos with dozens of photos. If you do not print these photos out, you may not get the chance to enjoy them often enough. There are various ways to do so. You can burn the photos from your cell phone to a CD, which will allow you to bring them in to your favorite photo company to print off. You can choose a variety of sizes to print them. You can then have them professionally framed using handmade photo frames or customized picture frames that fit the theme, color, or overall look you want.

Why Do It?

Why not put off pulling those photos off of your cell phone. When you do, you’ll benefit in many ways including:

FAQ about the DIY Picture Framing Workshops

Isn’t Frameworks Losing Business by offering the Workshop?

DIY-Bild-Framing-workshop-berlin-Deutschland-02Many people have asked me if the workshops are counterintuitive, if I am making my own competition. And I have to say, the answer for me is an absolut No! People have many hobbies, and adding the knowledge of picture framing to those skills, doesn’t mean that Frameworks and all other picture framing businesses, whether specialising in antique, contemporary or modern wooden picture frames, will suddenly go out of business. The picture framing workshops bring such engagement and joy to the classic model of a framing store. The Workshop brings people into the process, it exposes them to knew knowledge, it allows them access to something that was arguably said to be very difficult. Frameworks is working on new business models, which include sustainability, recycling, fair employment, and open-source information. The satisfaction people experience when they are done with the course, the comments of “I thought I couldn’t do it” and then holding up their own personal picture frame—well as the saying goes, that is priceless.

Am I a good candidate for the workshop?

DIY-Bild-Framing-workshop-berlin-Deutschland-03YES! To date, the workshop has had participants both male and female as young as 18 and as old as 65. We have had daughters bring mothers, sons bring both parents, gift givers, sisters, friends, partners who make a frame together or make two frames separately, and have had a private workshops for a large family. We also want to offer birthday parties for younger kids, office events for team building, community integration with the local schools. So yes, everyone is welcome.

I bought a really expensive piece of art. How should I frame it?

DIY-Bild-Framing-workshop-berlin-Deutschland-04Conclusively, I will say this: Like all professions, really really good framing technique takes knowledge, skill, and time. For your expensive hand made first addition vintage Berlin artist print or photograph, I would highly recommend commissioning Frameworks to professionally make the frame and mount the art—but for all other things hobby, why not Do It Yourself?

Where did you get the idea from?

DIY-Bild-Framing-workshop-berlin-Deutschland-05During my studies, I happened to live across the street from a DIY picture framing store in Boston, Massachusetts. I had a photograph that I had bought, and like any student, couldn’t afford to frame it properly. But at Brookline Frames, I was able to do my own framing at a fraction of the price. I was in love with the idea, and greatly appreciated the opportunity. So a special thanks to Brookline Frames for changing the course of my professional life!

Can I come back to your workshop and use your tools?

DIY-Bild-Framing-workshop-berlin-Deutschland-06Yes! Once you have taken the workshop, you are more then welcomed to return to Frameworks Studios at any time (with notice per email please) and use our space to build your own picture frame!
